More Than An Autograph

More Than An AutographBrian began collecting autographs as a kid for fun but quickly realized that this journey was teaching him more about himself and life in general. After being asked by local broadcaster, Barry Lee, from 92.5 WINC FM a number of years ago to come on his weekly TV show to discuss some of his autographs, Brian quickly realized that each signature in his collection was More Than An Autograph. Within the covers of this book are his stories and subsequent teachings, told with refreshing comedy and acuity that only Brian could bring to life.

Frontline: Book 1 – Tag…You’re It

Frontline: Book 1 - Tag…You’re ItDoing what’s right is simple…but it’s not always easy.

Tag Murdoch wrestles with what his role is when he sees another student bullied by his teammate, Vince Rhodes. To complicate matters, Vince is the high school’s star quarterback – the necessary ingredient to win an upcoming championship game. A charge of bullying will suspend him from the team at a crucial moment… making Tag the object of anger and hatred. Faced with contradicting viewpoints from friends, parents and teachers, Tag struggles with these issues: Is it my role to do anything? And if so, what? When Tag finally decides how to proceed, his situation is further complicated by the fear of letting down his friends, school and community.

The main theme of this story is bullying, but not from the viewpoint of the bully or the victim (although these are touched upon). The viewpoint of the bystander is explored in this book. What role or obligation, if any, does one have when s/he sees bullying occur? The lines are not always clear and situations are not always cut and dry, as this book will show. It’s especially hard in high school, when identities are starting to form and social cliques are prevalent. This story is the first in a series that focuses on a group of high school students and how they deal with real life situations and making the right choices on their own.

Frontline: Book 2 – Lost and Found

Frontline: Book 2 - Lost and FoundIt’s hard to study for a test of faith.

When Brett Donovan sees his friend, Jerry Winston, fighting for his life after a tragic accident, he asks himself the age-old question: Why do bad things happen to good people? Being the son of a pastor, Brett always had a strong faith, but it had never before been truly tested. Now he is left wondering if God really does exist, and if so, why would He allow Jerry to suffer. As Brett wrestles with his feelings, he receives advice for and against keeping his faith, adding to his confusion even more.

Many folks are of middle school or high school age when they experience their first tragedy. It’s never easy and everyone handles these situations differently. In a time like this, it’s okay to stumble. It’s okay to ask the hard questions. But through it all, it’s even more important to remember that experiencing a traumatic event can cause us to lose hope altogether, or it can help us to realize just how solid our faith really is. My wish is that this book gives a real-world view of what it feels like when doubt starts to cloud our faith. Faith, hope and love may seem out of reach at times, but it doesn’t mean they ever are.

Still Learning

Still Learning The Bible is our instruction manual for life. But when we don’t read it as often as we should, God finds other ways to teach us the lessons of the Bible through our everyday life experiences. Life experiences can be fun, exciting, even dangerous. They can be boring, depressing, or painful. Sometimes we see them coming, and sometimes they blindside us. Some are thrust upon us, while others are the result of our own actions. Still Learning explains how we can learn something from each life lesson—good and bad. Author Jay Foreman shares his experiences and the lessons he learned from them, putting them to the test. He questions whether they are biblically applicable to his life and teaches you to ask the same very important questions. Are your own life lessons reflecting the messages you have learned—and lived—from the Bible? After you’ve become familiar with the author’s life experiences, including embarrassing moments and the subsequent lessons learned, you’ll visit a story from the pages of the Bible where the same lesson was learned thousands of years ago. God is gracious and teaches us the lessons He wants us to learn. Still Learning helps us recognize and identify the lessons we can take from our own life experiences.

More Than A Teacher

More Than A Teacher, written and illustrated by Kayla Foreman More Than A Teacher is a tribute to all teachers who rise above and beyond what is required of them to help ensure that every student they interact with is prepared to be successful in life. Kayla wanted to write this book as her way of saying Thank You to the wonderful teachers with whom she has been blessed, and to all the teachers around the world that share these same values.

Kayla Kayla Foreman is an author and illustrator. This is the first book she has written and the second book for which she has provided illustrations. Super Will

cover art for Super Will On February 19, 2010, Will Rimmel was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. As his parents entered the ICU that night, the first thing that the doctor said to them was that they would now be Will’s “lifeline”. That statement couldn’t have been truer. From that point on, the Rimmel family knew they needed to do everything that they could to help and find a cure for Will and the other children and adults that are living with this dreadful disease. Their mission as a family is to educate and make others aware of the signs and symptoms of Type 1 Diabetes and the devastating effects that it can have on a body. What began as a simple “Spirit Night” at a local Chick-fil-A restaurant in Winchester, Virginia, has evolved into so much more. As of now, the Rimmel family and the wonderful owners of the local Chick-fil-A restaurants have organized two amazing events that occur annually to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The Rimmel family motto is “We Will Find a Cure”. This book is another platform for which the Rimmel family hopes to educate and inform others of Type 1 Diabetes. This light-hearted story reinforces the fact that those dealing with this disease are, in fact, Super Heroes and encourages them to never give up in the fight to find a cure!
